04MarHKSAS percussion band won the champion in the 71st Hong Kong School Music Festival for four years in a row
The 71st Hong Kong School Music Festival was successfully held on March 4, 2019 at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall. The percussion band of Hong Kong Student Aid Society Primary School sent a team of 27 people to participate in the competition. After 10 months and nearly 250 hours of practice and training, the percussion band successfully stood out in the 11 teams of the "W468 Senior Group Rhythm Competition" playing “Magellan's Voyage to unknown continent” in the competition and won the champion for four consecutive years.
It is worth mentioning that only 5 of the 27 students in the percussion band have basic knowledge in playing musical instruments, and the remaining 22 are not familiar with it at all. All their knowledge in musical instruments is learnt at school, along with continuous practice. Thanks to the hard work, passion and enthusiasm of our students and teachers, the joy of harvesting after much effort in sowing and the ecstatic tears after winning are particularly touching. It is no wonder that the students were so excited when the results were announced.
The Society and the School also wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Mok Yip Sui Hung Fund for sponsoring the percussion band of Hong Kong Student Aid Society Primary School, including rental of musical instruments, purchase of musical instrument accessories, and hiring tutors and master tutors to teach and train the percussion band to enhance their skills and level.
