The Clinical Psychologist is to provide clinical assessments/consultations/treatments to facilitate the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of children and youth in care on one-off/short-term basis or during the period of awaiting long-term clinical psychological service.
The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for Agency-based Enhancement of Professional Staff Support Services (ABPSS) and Agency-based Enhancement of Clinical Psychological Support Services (ABCPS). ABPSS provides additional social work services and clinical psychological support services to better meet the special needs of the children and youth in care of Residential Care Homes (RCHs) and to early identify their problems for early intervention. Moreover, ABCPS helps to provide timely assessment and stop-gap intervention for foster children and youth with special needs and have been waitlisting for long-term clinical psychological services. These children have special needs such as learning difficulties, attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder, autism, speech impairment and developmental delay, etc. The service is also extended to their parents and foster parents in handling children with special needs.
Clinical psychological services include:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and consultation, psychological treatment or psychotherapy to children and youth with special educational needs (SEN), mental health needs, etc.
- Achieve service output and standards of the services
-Provide consultation and trainings to parents/careers of the children and youth in care
- Provide staff training and development activities
- Provide crisis intervention and psychological treatment for children, youth, family members and staff if need
- Develop the clinical protocols through clinical practice and clinical research
- Deliver psychological services which might involve home-based, hostel-based and centre-based services
Requirements:
- Master Degree Holder in Clinical Psychology from a Hong Kong University or equivalent
- Eligible for membership of professional body for Clinical Psychologists
- English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language at Grade E or above in HKCEE / Level 2 in HKDSE, or equivalent
- Proficiency in written and spoken English & Chinese
- Able to work independently and collaborate well with colleagues of other disciplines including social workers
- Prior experience in children and youth services is preferred
Working Hours:
18 hours per week (part-time) and work on shift and holidays when necessary.
