Hong Kong Student Aid Society was founded in 1957 with the mission to provide needy children and youth with foster care, residential, education and community development services. We have over 5,000 registered users served by more than 250 employees. We operate 3 residential hostels, 7 small group homes and 3 schools. We receive lump sum grants from the Social Welfare Department and funds from other government departments, private donors and other sources. Our annual expenditure is about HK$217 million.

Trajectory Development Manager (Ref no: SGH/TDM/2025035)
This role will pilot a five-year project which initiated and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Community-home Opportunity: Enhance the developmental trajectory of children and youths (“C&Ys”) residing in Small Group Homes (“SGHs”). It aims to enrich home environments, strengthen community connections, bridge developmental gaps, and elevate service standards in the residential child care industry. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Service Development) and the details of this post responsible for performing the following core duties as stated below: -
Responsibilities:
- Assess the unique needs, interests, strengths, and aspirations of C&Ys and empower them to co-develop an individualized development plan (“IDP”) from a positive developmental trajectory perspective.
- Effectively utilize and optimize the Child and Youth Trajectory Fund and the Social Capital Platform to actualize the IDP and build their social capital.
- Assist in building the opportunity network of the Social Capital Platform and cultivate meaningful partnerships with community stakeholders.
- Identify and address the challenges faced by C&Ys in implementing the IDP.
- Proactively engage the significant others of C&Ys to promote children- and youth-centric practice and implementation of the IDP.
- Provide ongoing support to C&Ys in sustaining a positive developmental trajectory after discharging from SGHs or other residential child care services throughout the project period.
- Complete the training and capacity-building programmes designated for TDM.
- Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and emerging trends in children and youth development. Actively participate in the community of practice to consolidate practice wisdom and develop evidence-based intervention models.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Psychology, Education, Guidance and Counselling, Social Work, or a cognate discipline; Non-degree holders with commensurable experience (e.g., relevant frontline experience) are also acceptable.
- Strong commitment to promoting C&Ys' personal agency by listening to their voices and placing them at the center of services to enhance their positive developmental trajectory.
- Understanding of the mission, objectives, and intervention strategy of the Community-home Opportunity programme within the context of SGHs is highly regarded.
- 3 years or above experience in C&Ys would be a great advantage.
- Capable of working in SGHs and effectively engaging with stakeholders and C&Ys from diverse backgrounds.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently; strong sense of responsibility and ability to work effectively as a team player.
- Good command of both Chinese and English.
