Hong Kong Student Aid Society, founded in 1957, is dedicated to supporting children and young people in need through foster care, residential services, education, and community development. Today we serve over 5,000 registered users and are supported by more than 200 staff. Our operations include three residential hostels, seven small group homes, and three schools. Looking forward, the Society is entering a pivotal phase of transformation: while our long-standing commitment to compassionate youth hostel service remains our foundation, we are actively introducing younger, more energetic and innovative perspectives into our organisational culture. In the coming years we will complete a new 20-storey service building that will house our youth residential services and provide a more diversified range of services, including youth and rehabilitation services.

Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Service Development) (SWO) HO/ACEO(SD)/2026014
This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary leader who is highly committed to improving the lives of children in need and exploring new service models. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer to embrace the challenges and opportunities of service fortification, strengthen service delivery, shape strategy, develop new services, and drive organisational transformation while safeguarding the Society’s long-standing values of compassion and integrity. Duties of the post holder include-
- - to assist CEO in strategic oversight of services, maintain and enhance the service quality of the Society
- - to lead the service review and fortification of existing youth and hostel services
- - to oversee service units and ensure compliance to SWD’s standards
- - to coordinate the new service development, including fund bidding proposal, manpower planning, premises renovation, establishment of SQS, service promotion, etc.
- - to manage a closely-aligned collaborations with the authorities and put forward project milestones of new service buildings and new initiatives
- - to participate in partnership development and joint‑program monitoring for new collaborative initiatives with external organisations and foundations
- - to propose and explore the development of new services and initiatives to meet clients’ and community’s changing needs
- - to coordinate and review the crisis management mechanism and complaint handling mechanism
- - to assist CEO to create a values-driven, high-performance workplace that recognises staff and encourages proactive commitment

Requirements:
We sincerely invite candidates who are university graduates from social work background with minimum of 12 years post-qualification experience in operating social service, and at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferably in children and family, youth, hostel or rehabilitation services. Proven ability in managing multi-disciplinary professionals, preparing service bidding, supervising service development, managing complex project, handling stakeholder engagement (including government departments and donors) and crisis management will be essential for the position. Ability to inspire diverse teams and cultivate a collaborative work environment will have a definite advantage. Whilst relevant working experience is important, we place greater value on candidates’ passion for children and youth services as well as commitment to embracing the challenges and opportunities ahead.
